Advisory Services

Specialized advice for high-stakes Canadian tax matters

We focus on three areas where the cost of getting things wrong — or waiting too long — is significant. Each service is designed for internationally connected individuals navigating complex Canadian tax obligations.

Canadian tax residency planning — cross-border tax advisory Service 01

Cross-Border Tax & Residency

The date your Canadian tax residency begins determines when your worldwide income enters the Canadian tax net — and how your foreign assets are valued on arrival. Getting it wrong triggers retroactive assessments that are difficult to reverse.

Foreign asset disclosure T1135 reporting — Bethel Strategic Partners Service 02

Foreign Asset Disclosure (T1135)

Canadian residents with foreign assets exceeding CAD $100,000 must file T1135 annually. Penalties start at $2,500 per year for late filing. CRA's ability to detect unreported assets through international data-sharing grows every year.

Non-resident property tax T2062 clearance certificate guidance Service 03

Non-Resident Property Tax

Without a T2062 clearance certificate, buyers must withhold 25% of the gross sale price — not just the gain. Advance planning under Section 116 can reduce that withholding significantly and prevent funds from being frozen at closing.

Cross-border estate planning for Hong Kong and Taiwan families in Canada Service 04

Cross-Border Estate Planning

Deemed disposition on death, 25% withholding on non-resident beneficiaries, and the absence of a Canada–Hong Kong or Canada–Taiwan tax treaty create significant exposure for internationally connected families. We advise on pre-death planning, inheritance obligations, and cross-border estate structure.

Voluntary Disclosures Program VDP — unreported foreign income Canada Service 05

Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP)

Missed T1135 filings or unreported foreign income? Canada's VDP — updated October 2025 — can eliminate penalties entirely and reduce interest by up to 75%. The window closes the moment CRA contacts you.
